Fringe Final Season

I am happy to report a show that has not been cancelled!

Fringe has been given the green light for the final season 5 that will consist of just 13 episodes where the show will be wrapped up with a decent ending that will please the fans.

I am also happy to report that Stargate-SG1 may be making a come back but here is the question?

Will this be a show reboot from the original StarGate 1994 film by Roland Emmerich or will the show continue on from where the last film ended and what about SG Atlantis being on earth?.

TERRA NOVA Canceled!

After days, weeks, months of speculation if FOX would bring back their big budget prehistoric adventure - Terra Nova has been officially canned.

The question asked a few months ago if Terra Nova was a disappointment. Gathering responses from here, Twitter, Facebook, and just the internet in general – it seems to be a solid 50/50 split. Some thought it had creativity and could only get better if it had a second season. Others (like me), felt it was just another show built up from hype only to disappoint.

Seriously, a dinosaur was sent to the future to help save the past? Or was it a dinosaur was sent to the present to help save the present from the past destroying our future?

Terra Nova produced decent enough ratings for a scripted show, but for its budget and overwhelming expectations, it was likely best for FOX to dispose of it. Think of this as a positive though. With both House and Terra Nova not returning, it can only help out Fringe. With the possibilities of syndication after a potential season five, Warner Bros. is likely to offer Fringe at a discount price to FOX.

Granted, the money budgeted for both House and Terra Nova will probably go towards next seasons new pilots (please, not another Seth MacFarlane show), but one could only hope.

Are you sad to see the dinosaurs die off yet again? What was in the Badlands? What is to come of Alcatraz now?

Torchwood: First Two Teasers + Press Release

The BBC has released a press release and two teasers of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Enjoy!
Thursday 14 July at 9.00-10.00pm on BBC ONE
One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep ageing – they get hurt and sick, but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.

With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month’s time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as CIA agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking: “What is Torchwood?”, he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human … for ever.

In the launch episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, Agent Rex Matheson is impaled in a car crash and miraculously survives, while his analyst, Esther Drummond, sets out to discover what Torchwood is. Far away, in Wales, Gwen Cooper lives in hiding with her husband Rhys and daughter Anwen – she’s the last surviving Torchwood member and is determined to stay hidden. In Kentucky, convicted murderer Oswald Danes survives his own execution. And when Esther meets the mysterious Captain Jack Harkness, assassins are activated to kill them all…

New ‘Terra Nova’ Trailer Hits Movie Theaters

A new trailer for Fox’s upcoming series Terra Nova debuted in movie theaters a few days ago but we have it online, right here. Enjoy!

You can watch the trailer at: http://thevoiceoftv.com/tv/2011-06-06/new-terra-nova-trailer-hits-movie-theaters-video/

TERRA NOVA follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149, the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped and overcrowded, with the majority of plant and animal life extinct. The future of mankind is in doubt, and its only hope for survival is in the distant past.

When scientists at the FERMI Particle Accelerator unexpectedly discovered a fracture in time that made it possible to construct a portal into primeval history, the bold notion was born to resettle humanity in the past – a second chance to rebuild civilisation and get it right this time.

The series centers on the Shannon family as they join the Tenth Pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first colony established in this beautiful yet forbidding land. JIM SHANNON (Jason O’Mara), a devoted father with a checkered past, guides his family through this new world of limitless beauty, mystery and terror. Jim’s wife, ELISABETH SHANNON (Shelley Conn), is a trauma surgeon and the newest addition to TERRA NOVA’s medical team. JOSH SHANNON (Landon Liboiron) is their 17-year-old son who is angry to leave life as he knows it behind; upon arriving at the settlement, he finds himself instantly drawn to the beautiful and rule-breaking SKYE (Allison Miller). MADDY SHANNON (Naomi Scott), Josh’s endearingly awkward 15-year-old sister, hopes TERRA NOVA will give her a new chance to reinvent herself. Although Elisabeth’s medical training secured the family a spot on the pilgrimage, a secret involving their five-year-old daughter, ZOE (Alana Mansour), soon endangers their place in this utopia.

Independence Day 2, 3: Coming Soon

Independence Day 2 and 3 are coming: Will Smith on board

Yes, not one, but two sequels to Roland Emmerich's 1996 alien invasion blockbuster Independence Day are apparently in the works. IESB claims that 20th Century Fox is developing two films to be shot back-to-back, both with Will Smith in the lead. Apparently one of the main reasons there hasn’t been a sequel to the original movie was Will Smith’s request for a larger share of the profits. According to IESB's source, he will now get $20 million up front as well as part of the gross takings. Fox can now offer more as they are swimming in the massive financial returns reaped from James Cameron's Avatar.

If true, this is bad news for the already delayed Asimov Foundation trilogy: it’s likely Roland Emmerich will direct the Independance Day film after his latest film Anonymous about the life of William Shakespeare, delaying the Foundation start date even further.

Given recent studio obsessions with the 3D technology, there's no doubt that if the two films are going ahead, they'll both be in 3D - whether Emmerich or Smith want them to be in 3D or not.

This is still marked as a rumour, so we'll let you know when (and if!) it’s confirmed.

Falling Skies - two minute trailer

FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.

At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. His wife was killed in the initial attack, and one of his three sons has been captured. Determined to get his son back and to ensure the safety of his other two sons, Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass, because of their location in Boston, Mass. They are constantly trying to gain intelligence about the aliens in order to one day outsmart and overtake them and hopefully rebuild their lives.

Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) co-stars as Anne Glass, a pediatrician who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic upheaval in their lives. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT's Into the West) plays a fierce leader of the resistance, Weaver. The series also stars Drew Roy (Secretariat) as Hal, Tom's oldest son and a growing fighter in the resistance movement; Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom's youngest son; Connor Jessup (The Saddle Club) as Ben, Tom's son who was captured by aliens; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps Anne in the group's makeshift medical clinic. Colin Cunningham (Living in Your Car) is John Pope, the leader of an outlaw motorcycle gang and Sarah Carter (Shark) is Margaret, a wary survivor of Pope's gang.

FALLING SKIES focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances.

Jan 1st 2012 - Changes.

The Contact form has been disabled - Contact can only be made via Email (keith@ukscifi.net)

Progress with the new site has been slow due to myself with a long term illness however this year I hope to make some changes and get back into developing this site.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of UKScifi.net I plan to upgrade the site from Dragonfly Cms to something completely new and modern. I began the site on my old Amiga2000 as a server box back in October 1991 in the hope of building a community for people with the same interests as me in early Internet applications, Scifi films and television programsThe server started out as a BBS board (Gopher server), IRC, FTP and Telnet communications.
